Honey Drops
Background
Honeypot Ants (Camponotus inflatus) are resilient insects that live in underground colonies in Australian deserts. They collect and store nectar inside their abdomens, which is used to nourish the colony during the dry season. Historically, indigenous Australians would harvest and consume Honeypot Ants for their sweet nectar-filled abdomens. Over time, this once quaint and rustic treat has grown into a sweet dessert garnish featured in gourmet restaurants and gastropubs.
Project Summary
Within a 10 week timeline, I designed a logo and brand identity for a theoretical edible-insect product called Honey Drops. Honey Drops is an organic, all-natural soft gummy candy which derives calcium, protein, and sweetness from the Australian Honeypot Ant. Final deliverables include: a logo, business system, (sustainable) packaging design, and marketing strategy.
